West Kootenay Power and Light Co. opens 12,000-kW Upper Bonnington hydroelectric plant, selling all power to mining industry and smelter in Trail.

West Kootenay Power and Light Co. brings 55,950-kW South Slocan plant online to supply Cominco.

West Kootenay Power and Light Co. installs a hydroelectric plant at Goat River to serve community of Creston and completes the 45,000 kW Corra Linn plant.

West Kootenay Power and Light Co. completes the 55,200-kW Brilliant plant.
1951
West Kootenay Power and Light Co. interconnects with East Kootenay Power Co. system via a 90-mile, 171-kV transmission line to Kimberley.
1963
Agreement on the Columbia River Treaty was signed by US Federal Government and Provincial Governments covering the sale of downstream hydropower benefits such as flood control and water storage.
1964
Columbia River Treaty is ratified by Canada and the US. Construction begins on Columbia River projects.
1975
First stage of Kootenay Canal hydroelectric project is completed and power brought online.
2004
Fortis Inc. acquired all distribution, transmission, and generation assets of the Company and named it FortisBC Inc.
2005
Fortis Inc. acquired Princeton Light and Power Co. Ltd.
