Our business
We deliver the energy customers need safely, reliably and at the lowest reasonable cost. Whether delivering electricity, natural gas, renewable gas or propane, our more than 2,500 employees proudly serve approximately 1.2 million customers in 135 BC communities and 57 First Nations communities across 150 traditional territories.
While the majority of our customers are residential, commercial and industrial, we also provide energy for transportation–delivering energy for low- or no-carbon transportation through compressed natural gas (CNG), liquefied natural gas (LNG) and electricity. From electric commuter vehicles to CNG buses and LNG ferries, FortisBC provides energy to keep British Columbians moving.
We own and operate approximately 50,000 kilometres of natural gas transmission and distribution pipelines, and approximately 7,300 kilometres of electricity transmission and distribution power lines. Our energy infrastructure assets also include BC’s largest underground natural gas storage facility, two LNG storage facilities and four hydroelectric generating plants.

FortisBC Inc. is a regulated utility focused on providing safe and reliable electricity. FortisBC Inc. and FortisBC Energy Inc. do business as FortisBC. We are indirectly wholly owned by our parent company, Fortis Inc., a leader in the North American electricity and natural gas utility business. Through its subsidiaries, Fortis Inc. serves more than 3.3 million natural gas and electricity customers.
