Natural gas wall furnace rebate

A natural gas wall furnace along the side of a living room wall (18-150.12)

Connect to gas and install a direct vent natural gas wall furnace for efficient heating in a small space, and you could be eligible for a rebate of up to $1,200 ($1000 rebate + $200 bonus). Additional rebates of up to $1,050 are available when you install an eligible natural gas hot water heater and fireplace at the same time.

Why install a wall furnace?

A wall furnace—also known as a direct vent room heater—can be added to your home’s existing heating system to reach those cold spots in your garage, basement or workshop, or provide cost-effective heating for a home where the ducts and venting required by a central heating system aren’t feasible, such as a cabin or laneway house.

Gas customers can also choose to sign up for Renewable Natural Gas,1 which works seamlessly with regular natural gas appliances like wall furnaces and water heaters.

  1. To qualify for the $200 bonus rebate, you must receive a pre-qualification code between April 1, 2024 and December 31, 2024. The pre-qualification code must be received before installing your upgrades. The bonus rebate will be terminated once all the available pre-qualification codes have been issued.
  2. All new direct vent natural gas wall furnaces that meet B.C. code requirements are eligible.
  3. This program is for new gas customers in existing homes only and is not available for new construction.
  4. Customers must install their eligible upgrades not more than six months after connecting to the gas system.
  5. Only one rebate per appliance or system installed per household.
  6. The installation must be completed and have a paid invoice dated before March 31, 2025, to qualify for the $200 bonus rebate.

1Renewable Natural Gas (also called RNG or biomethane) is produced in a different manner than conventional natural gas. It is derived from biogas, which is produced from decomposing organic waste from landfills, agricultural waste and wastewater from treatment facilities. The biogas is captured and cleaned to create Renewable Natural Gas.
