Transportation natural gas rates
If your business has a minimum annual consumption of 2,000 GJ or more, you may choose to purchase your natural gas commodity from a separate, independent supplier called a gas marketer. Transportation rate customers have two contracts: one with their gas marketer for the commodity and one with FortisBC for gas delivery.
The commodity (natural gas) is purchased through and billed directly by the gas marketer according to the contract terms between you and the gas marketer.
The delivery (or transportation) of the natural gas to your business via our distribution system is covered by your contract with FortisBC.
Rate 22
This rate schedule is for customers who use more than 12,000 GJ per month and have the ability to switch to an alternate energy source.
Interruption of service due to operational or weather related system constraints is at FortisBC's discretion and the customer can be required to stop using natural gas with a minimum of two hours notice.
The rate structure consists of fixed and variable charges.
Fixed charges
The two fixed charges are independent of the volume of gas used each month:
- a daily basic charge
- an administration charge
Variable charges
There are variable charges for the delivery (also called transportation) of each GJ of gas consumed. These charges are based on a minimum invoiced volume of 12,000 GJ per month, whether the gas is consumed or not.
Rate 22 is authorized by written contract with FortisBC, and specific terms and conditions may apply.
Note: Customers have a separate gas commodity contract with their chosen gas marketer.
