FortisBC completes acquisition of Stargas Utilities customers

SURREY, B.C.—June 30, 2022: FortisBC Energy Inc. (FortisBC) has successfully purchased the operating assets of Stargas Utilities Ltd., acquiring approximately 375 new customers within the Silver Star Mountain Resort. FortisBC will formally transition these new customers starting July 4, 2022.
Through this acquisition, all gas customers within the Silver Star Mountain Resort will join FortisBC’s existing network of approximately 1.2 million customers receiving natural gas, electricity, Renewable Natural Gas and propane. They will have the opportunity to participate in all FortisBC programs and service offerings including the organization’s conservation and energy management incentive programs, high efficiency appliance rebates and the Renewable Natural Gas program.
FortisBC entered into the purchase agreement in December 2020, and received acceptance from its regulator, the British Columbia Utilities Commission, in the spring of 2022.
