B.C. Electricity Affordability Credit
Eligible electricity customers will receive the B.C. Electricity Affordability Credit beginning April 22, 2024, and it will be applied to their bills until March 31, 2025.

To be eligible for the credit, your electricity account must have been active on December 31, 2023, and continue to be active. New customers who opened accounts anytime during 2023 will also receive a credit.
No, the credit will automatically appear as a line item on your bill; there is no need to apply.
The credit will be applied to eligible customers’ bills from April 22, 2024 to March 31, 2025. Customers who receive a bill between April 1 and 19, 2024 will receive an additional credit on their next bill.
The credit will be based on 4.6 per cent of a customer’s electricity consumption from January 1, 2023 to December 31, 2023 and will be automatically calculated and applied on eligible customers’ bills.
New customers who opened accounts anytime during 2023 will also receive a credit based on 4.6 per cent of their total electricity consumption during the year, or a minimum total credit of $24 applied to their bills until March 31, 2025, whichever amount is more.

Be aware of scams
There is no action required from you to receive the bill credit. To verify that you’ve received the bill credit, you can check your next bill after April 22, 2024 or contact our customer service team at 1-866-436-7847.
Be aware of scammers that may use tactics to try to offer you bill credits. If you receive an email or text message that appears to be from FortisBC, but you’re not sure about it, do not click on links, open attachments, download pictures, forward the message or respond to it. Instead, call us immediately and we’ll confirm whether it was from us. You can also email us at [email protected] for less urgent requests.
